Tips

Campers/Trailers

    • DOs
      • We lined our camper trailer windows and outside vents etc with painters tape to help reduce the dust in the camper. A roll or 2 or 3 of painters tape will be wise. Prep this before you go. Make sure you remove tape important ventilation for when you run the stove top or a/c, etc.
      • Bring reflective type window coverings, like this… https://a.co/d/8C5iOsm
      • Bring at least 2-3 orange Home depot Buckets
      • Make sure you trailer is not leaking anything on the playa! May be wise to bring a “drip pan for a just in case kind of thing. It is the responsibility of each of us to keep the playa clean. no draining on the playa is allowed.
      • Leave your real estate clean. Bring a rake to leave the playa clean and clear of any trace you were there.
    • DONT’s
      • Don’t park your camper and establish your temporary real estate without talking to a camp leader. Doug Partridge of Doug & Lisa is Mayor #1, Ed Oliver of Tracey & Ed is Mayor #2 (heehee #2)
      • Don’t drip on the playa dood.

Things to Bring

  • Bikes with lights
  • Lights to put on your body
  • Head lights are easier than flashlights (especially in the portos),
  • Face Coverings: scarves or bananas and masks for dust storms, goggles (recommend tinted for day and clear for night but you can put clear safety goggles over sunglasses too) for dust storms,
  • Extra cans of gas for on the road (you don’t know how long the line will be) and your generator
  • A tarp, drip pan, or kiddie pool to put under your trailer/truck in case it leaks or you have to drain some gray water (please check your systems BEFORE playa to ensure pipes aren’t cracked and leaking etc).
  • Water. They recommend gallon of water per day per person.
  • Lip Balm – Lips will get CHAPPED
  • Hand lotion/cream. Elements are hard on the skin
  • Vinegar water spray bottle to clean your self off with each day.
  • Hand lotion
  • Gloves – my hands got SO chaffed from bike riding and dust.
  • Peppermint Water Bottle/spritzer. It feels amazing to spritz yourself on the hot days.
  • Coffee – Though you can buy this at the cafe, it’s always best to share a cup in camp.
  • Cold neck things like… https://a.co/d/6UjtLV9
  • Toilet Paper – keep some with you JUST in case the porto’s are out.
  • Sanitizer, see previous bullet, haha
  • Tutu for Tutu Tuesday. https://a.co/d/3RgNvY8
  • Will add more as I think….
